Note to all event organizers: When planning an event, one vital element on your checklist should be the bathroom; you should ensure that the ‘rest’ room is in a good condition prior to and during the event.

Here I am seated inside Cecil Charlton Hall when mother nature called. I excused myself from the room and headed to the bathroom. Upon entering the area dedicated to the ‘resting’ of one’s bowels, I realized there was no light. Luckily, the sun was still out and offered to give me some light by peeping through a window. I bolted the door of the rather tight cubicle, if I had on a few more pounds there’s no way I could fit in that space. Having perched my butt a few inches away from the toilet seat, my arms bounced the tissue holder. Ouch! After relieving myself, I proceeded to flush…..and just as I thought, no water. Being the rather clean freak that I am, I couldn’t have left my pee in the toilet for another user as I’d be upset if one had done that. I exited the cubicle thinking that I should find one of the event’s organizers to vent my dissatisfaction.

Upon reaching the door, I saw a blue drum with a Berger paint pan on top; I peeped in and saw water. The fact that I had paid for this event and having to catch water in my nice dress didn’t sit well with me. I dipped in the drum and went back to the cubicle to flush the toilet. As I did, water splashed all over the floor. Kmt! Angry and frustrated, I left the pan right there on the toilet tank and proceeded to wash my hands. The face basin was the dirtiest I had ever seen and it came as no surprise that there was no soap or water. Luckily, my friend had wipes so that I could clean my hands.

I was not amused knowing that I paid for this event and had to endure all of that.

I am Laydee Sharmz saying to the property management team at Cecil Charlton Hall, kindly renovate your bathrooms & to JCDC kindly ensure the bathrooms are in good condition before hosting an event.
