Dear Captain Clueless, Not All Jamaicans Are Stupid

After listening to the crummy explanation provided by Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller regarding the purchase of the Outameni property, it was reinforced in my mind that this woman takes pleasure in underestimating the intelligence of the Jamaican population.

The NHT’s main purpose is to secure housing facilities and to improve the living conditions of its contributors, but instead of investing funds to meet the needs of the average Jamaican, they have opted to tap into tourism. Is it that the NHT has merged with the Ministry of Tourism and I have no knowledge of it? If the NHT deemed it necessary to purchase a tourist attraction, what then is the role of the tourism ministry? The NHT has spent $180 million to purchase the property and will expend another $100 million to improve it. To top that off, our PM has told us that another $20m will be used to purchase chattels, equipment and intellectual property rights etc. Quite a splurge of the country’s finances! What is the purpose of purchasing the property at a cost of $180m if the actual Outameni Experience and its other things aren’t included?

Which real estate agency did the Portia Simpson-Miller led administration consult prior to making this purchase? Am I to believe that this piece of land buried in the most remote part of Trelawny is so unique that the value is so high? The average Jamaican man knows that it is overpriced. I’m sure other properties much larger than Outameni and situated in the same area is much cheaper in value. Will this property play a significant role in national development that we had to spend so much to acquire it?

This transaction has been ongoing since March 2013 yet our PM had the audacity to inform us that she had no knowledge of it until October 2014 when the media broke the story! For Christ sake, how can one be the PM of a country and allow such a major transaction to happen without their knowledge or approval? There’s an obvious detach between yourself, your Cabinet members and public institutions. The NHT is a government institution that deducts a monthly sum from taxpayers’ income, unu cyah play ‘Ramping Shop’ wid poor people money soh! With this in mind, Madam PM you are accountable to the people and not yourself.

Dear Captain Clueless, you need to understand that not all Jamaicans are clueless and foolish like yourself, it is time you stop insulting our intelligence and tek we fi eediat!
