Words can’t express how annoyed I am now at the thought of falling in Digicel’s so called bonus credit trap. For years, Digicel has deemed it necessary to constantly annoy their customers with text messages advertising various promotions & its quiet unfortunate that I became a victim of their bonus credit trick.

On April 30, I visited Digicel’s website and their online top up promotion caught my eye, customers who purchased a minimum of $1000 would be granted a bonus. I went ahead and purchased thinking that there would be no need for regular credit given a $1000 bonus would be on my phone.

After making the purchase, I proceeded to make a call and half way in my conversation, the call got disconnected. I checked the bonus credit and none was used but my regular credit was done. Clearly bewildered, the next move was to call Digicel’s customer care and their very rude agent, Sidonia (or something to that effect) had the nerve to tell me that the bonus couldn’t be used without regular credit as government call tax had to be deducted from regular credit. Utter rubbish! What’s the point in having bonus credit when you need regular credit to use it? So now I’ve all this credit on my phone waiting for its expiry date.

It is imperative that the company takes the necessary steps to properly educate and inform its users about these changes and what it means for their plan and billing charges. Digicel is nothing but a trickster! Here they are advertising these grand promotions without informing the public of the terms & conditions associated with them. Never again will I be fooled into making such a mistake.
