Dutty Labourites? Shame on you, Damion Crawford

I dislike most (if not all) politicians as I think they’re nothing but lazy, unintelligent, uncouth people who only care about themselves and not those they represent. Nevertheless, I’ve always liked Junior Minister, Damion Crawford as he stood out among those tired old bastards who lead us. But now I’ve lost faith in him too.

I anticipated that against all odds, Jamaica had found a brilliant man who would aid in curtailing the mentality of ghetto youths before its too late. But all hope was lost after Damion delivered a speech in his constituency last Sunday. After seducing the nation with a speech in which he spoke the truth (its rare that Jamaican politicians do this) Crawford then deemed it necessary to refer to some Jamaicans as ‘dutty Labourites’. What was the purpose of that? After such a great speech that would have resonated with all Jamaicans, Crawford found a way to turn it into a nasty decay. I would expect a statement like that to come from members of his East Kingston constituency and NOT him. Smh!

Then two days following his colorful and ignorant display of favoritism, Crawford then issued a statement of apology. “I want to apologize unreservedly for a most unfortunate comment I made at a political meeting…it is clear I got carried away and reverted to negative language”. Blah! How will this remedy the damage already created? The act was done, the damage can’t be undone. Dear Crawford, as a politician it pays to think before you speak as sorry doesn’t always make things right.

You’ve disappointed me Mr. Crawford. But then again I shouldn’t be too surprised, after all politicians are known for regular outbursts of disrespect to their fellow companions in parliament. If the leaders are behaving in such uncouth manner, then how do we expect the uneducated citizens to act? Its such a shame that Jamaica has reached this stage. I’m still appalled that a politician would refer to citizens who favor the Jamaica Labour Party as ‘dutty Labourites’. Shame on you Crawford
