‘F’ for PharmaChoice’s Customer Service

If you deliver exceptional customer service, I’ll return to do business with you. On the other hand, if customer service is poor then you just lost a customer. And in this case, PharmaChoice pharmacy at Reliance Center got the boot today.

Wednesday, June 11 @ 5:45pm. I was just dying to get home in order to relieve myself of my work shoes, so I opted to purchase insulin needles at the closest pharmacy on my way home. This happened to be PharmaChoice. Obviously the workers hadn’t recognize the tiredness on my face or they would have hurriedly served me. I approached the prescription counter and asked politely the cost for a pack of 100mm insulin syringes. To which the woman simply pointed across to the cashier. Not even the courtesy to respond politely. Being the smart one that I am, I’m capable of reading hand signals so I proceeded to the cashier and asked the cost of the item. I paid for the needles and returned to the prescription counter to collect them. No other customer was at the prescription counter then.

Minutes had passed and I was still there waiting as the three attendants behind the counter minded their own business with no regard for mine. One stood there chewing on a KFC chicken bone while spitting the remnants in her hand in full view of anyone who entered the pharmacy. How unprofessional I thought. But then again, you can always take a person out of the bush but you can’t take the bush out of them. The other worker who I handed the receipt to, simply placed it on the counter and continued to fidget with a MedeCus card while the other who I assumed was a trainee just sat there staring.

For those who know me well, know that I value time. I believe time is of the essence and time lost can never be regained. So, I really get annoyed when persons waste my time. Anyway, another five minutes had passed and anger got the best of me.

“How long unu aguh mek mi stand up yah soh”? “What are you waiting on”? No, she didn’t just ask that I thought. I didn’t respond. Obviously this woman had totally forgotten that I had given her a receipt. I eyed the ‘Little Miss Chicken Bone’ worker, her facial expression appeared as if I shouldn’t have asked. Then she took up the receipt, handed it to the ‘trainee’ and asked if I had paid for the item. I was on edge but I held my tongue.

Within minutes, I got the insulin needles and was on my way out feeling rather dissatisfied. Then we wonder why other pharmacies like Fontana & CanCare perform exceptionally well and manage to retain their customers despite their prices? Its the excellent service that they deliver. Sorry PharmaChoice but you just failed your customer service exam and there’ll be no makeups.
