Fashion Peeves….

While I’m no fashion guru; I do know how to put myself together for any occasion, I browse fashion mags, I watch fashion series and to top it off I’ve a stylist (big up yuhself Michelle) who knows exactly how to style me. Certain trends seem to be the order of the day but what some persons (especially females) fail to realize is that what works for one individual may not necessarily work for another. I love clothes, shoes, handbags & jewelry yet I’m not fussy about the latest trends as they tend to get rather common as they enter the market. Some females have taken fashion to an EXTREME and this post will discuss my fashion peeves.
1. Neon Lipsticks: In recent times, females have been painting their lips in bright hues. Wow, a sign of confidence! But while I’m a confident woman, there’s absolutely no way I’m going to wear blue, green or orange lipstick. It looks ghetto if you ask me. Red, natural or light lipgloss is perfectly fine.

2. False Eye-lashes: Ladies, for Heavens sake please desist from gluing on false eye-lashes! Wha dat fah? Frankly, false eye-lashes does nothing to enhance your beauty. Add some mascara and you’re good to go.

3. Colored Hair: I’m all for a little color; copper sunset, ruby red, coffee blonde or cranberry crush dyes & rinses work perfectly to enhance processed hair but when you go to the extreme of dying your hair green or blue or sewing in ridiculous colored hair, then you’ve just lost points in my fashion book. A dark skinned woman with pink hair or a light skinned woman with blue hair is indeed a terrible sight.

4. Makeup: Shades of makeup should match your skin tone. While I understand that some of dark-skinned females want to look like a ‘browning’ a face dabbed with Black Opal honey foundation is a disaster, don’t go out looking like a clown when Black Walnut is your shade. If you’re not aware of your skin tone or what shades to wear, hop onto Google or Youtube.

5. Shorts & Sloppy Legs: Note to the fluffy ladies, if you insist on wearing short shorts, ensure that your legs are toned and free from folds. Sloppy legs aren’t cute!
6. Tight Clothes & Excess Fat: Another note to the fluffy ladies, find clothes that fit your body weight & desist from squeezing your heavy frames into clothes made for petite or slim figured females. If you want to fit into a size small, go shed a few pounds. Bulges aren’t sexy!

7. The Mix n’ Match Dilemma: And finally, bright multi-colored prints are in for summer but they SHOULDN’T be worn/mixed with floral, floral should be paired with solid colors.

8. Tight-Fitted Pants & Shirts: Men, unu stop run competition wid di ooman dem fi tight clothes. Men must be modestly dressed; underpants showing with your pants below your ass is just plain nasty.
Until then I’m Laydee Sharmz saying ‘stay pretty, be neat & dress appropriately’.
