Overly Ambitious Men

While it is good to aspire for the best things in life, some men are seemingly becoming way too ambitious for my liking. Though the onus is on men to find a woman who fits his character, some men are obviously losing sight of this fact and are gravitating towards women who are way out of their league.

On Monday, June 16 with my stomach yearning for food, I left the office to purchase lunch at a nearby restaurant. Upon approaching the restaurant, this horrid looking handcart man had the audacity to approach me.

Man: “Baby mi aguh waan yuh enuh, yuh mother must be a terrorist cause yuh a di bomb enuh”

Now if I hate anything, I hate to be called a baby because the last time I checked, I am a grown ass woman. On the other hand, while I’m cognizant of the fact that I like many other Jamaican women have what it takes to attract all types of men, I’m really annoyed when men deem to necessary to approach me with their lousy pickup lines. This is 2014, time to do away with those outdated phrases and approach your ‘target’ with confidence. Women like confident men so she may just give you a minute of her time. And before approaching, take a minute to analyze the woman so as to ascertain whether or not you think she’ll be willing to give of her time. Some of you men are pushing this thing a little too far.

I can’t stand an illiterate/uneducated man. Mind you, nothing is wrong if you don’t have subjects or degrees as this doesn’t make one intelligent; however, men should make it their point of duty to ensure that they’re able to maintain a conversation with a woman. Its a big turn off for a woman when a man is unable to stimulate her intellectually. Nowadays, some of society’s most illiterate are becoming too ambitious in their pursuits for a partner. They need to stay in their lane and find women who fit their character. A well educated woman & a dunce man is definitely not a good combination.

Then they’re those overly ambitious men who are confident that with their material things they can get any woman they want. Wrong! Note to men: While some women may be flattered by the money in your bank account, your fancy car or your house, others aren’t impressed by this. When a woman works hard, an affluent man is just a bonus and not a ladder of upgrade. With this is mind, some of you cocky men need to get over your forward thinking that all women love men with money.

And finally, INDECENCY. Dear men, its rather uncouth to talk about the women whom you’ve slept with. Real men don’t engage in such conversations, only narrow-minded boys do. While sitting in the same restaurant having lunch, two young boys across from my table were engrossed in a conversation about which woman gave the best ‘head’. Like seriously though, why does the world need to know that? Sex should be between two persons (unless you’re the freaky type who’s willing to engage in a threesome) so whether the lovemaking was good or bad or if Keisha’s genitalia is much better than Lisa’s the public doesn’t need to know.

And with Monday’s two brazen occurrences, I was inclined to write on behalf of all the women who are annoyed with society’s overly ambitious men.
