Riverton Blazes & So Am I

In recent times, it appears that arsonists have been finding pleasure in setting ablaze Jamaica’s main landfill, Riverton dump.
And what is the government doing about this? The frequency of the fires at the dump poses a serious threat to the health of residents and persons who work within the area; therefore, simply appealing to members of the public to avoid the area or to exercise extreme caution to guard against undue exposure to the smoke coming from the dump is ludicrous as many persons don’t have a choice. Is the government telling persons who have their homes in the affected areas to relocate until the fire is put under control?

The government should make it their priority to ensure that some form of security measure is implemented to prevent unscrupulous persons from gaining access to the landfill. The landfill should also be properly secured with perimeter fencing.
Meanwhile all this is happening, it seems our government main priority is to find unique ways of taxing Jamaican people.
The frequent fires at the landfill is such an embarrassment on the international scene and I’m most upset!
