The Day Privacy Died A Natural Death

What I’ll discuss in this post is specifically geared towards females as they’re guilty of this than men are.

With the advent of social media, it appears that persons private lives have died a natural death. While I’m cognizant of the fact that many of us boast very active social lives, there’s no need to publicize all aspects of your life to ‘John Public’. I’m an extrovert and well known within many circles; yet, I have refrained from posting certain details of my life on social media sites.

Many persons are caught up in this new ‘selfie’ and ‘Instagram’ maze which has twisted out of control. I don’t have an Instagram as I don’t see the purpose it serves. Why do I need to post a picture of my salary pay-slip and why do I need hundreds of people to be following my every move? While I do post on Facebook, many of my activities/updates are posted after they occur and even though I update my Whatsapp & BBM statuses every now & then, I think carefully before doing so.

I’ve realized that most of these ridiculous posts and updates are from those women who supposedly are from the ‘Medieval Era’ and have been brought into the ‘Renaissance’. In essence, these women weren’t exposed to the finer things in life until their significant other exposed them to the light. If you’re checking into a hotel with your spouse, why does the public need to see the hotel sign and/or armbands? If you’re out doing grocery shopping, why does the public need to see what’s in your trolley? Worst if you’re trolley is full of unhealthy junk! If you’ve treated yourself to an MK handbag or a pair of Bridget Sandals, why does the public need to see that? And finally, for those ladies who don’t go fashion shopping regularly, if you’ve borrowed a friend’s outfit, please don’t post a pic in it if your friend has done so before. That’s not cute! For all I care, you women are just frightened about the life you’re currently experiencing and you all need to get over yourselves. Real women who are accustomed to the finer things in life, don’t waste time doing such nonsense.

What happened to privacy? Did social media kill & bury it?
