Thoughts on Motherhood

To every appropriate thing, there’s always an opposite. There’s always a ghetto community adjoining every uptown area. In the same instance, they’re two classes of baby mothers; those who were prepared for motherhood and those who simply got the ‘job’ by accident’.
This blog isn’t geared towards those females who were prepared for motherhood; however, they’re certain traits that the latter set mentioned above need to adopt and this post is for them.
1. Know how to hold a baby. Many females who fell into the motherhood ‘job by accident’ have this tendency to ‘kotch’ or ‘cock off’ the baby at their sides. While this may be your first child, I can’t excuse you for not knowing how to hold a baby. There’s Google & Youtube with everything you need to know, from there you should learn the art of holding a baby properly. It bothers me to see a female leaning to one side and the baby perched on the other.
2. Babies are delicate beings. Babies shouldn’t be exposed to certain elements of the world at an early stage. There’s absolutely no way that a newborn should be subjected to the smells of hair products, nail polish and other cosmetics. Shame on those mothers who constantly expose their young ones to these elements. I’m bewildered as to how a mother could possibly take her baby to a nail tech or hairdressing parlor to inhale all those chemicals.
3. A baby should be well fed. This is self explanatory. In essence, unu stop spen’ money pon all kinda vanity and ensure that the baby is properly fed. While adults can consume any types of food, babies need special kinds of foods in their diets. I can’t understand how a mother could possibly eliminate fruits and veges from her shopping list and buy all sorts of grabage like chips, cheese trix & sodas for her baby
4. A baby should be kept clean at all times. While diapers it may be expensive to change diapers regularly and I’m aware that most mothers can’t afford to do so, mothers may resort to the good old ‘nappies’ in an effort to ensure that babies are clean at all times. Unu cyah have di baby inna one pampers whole day! Also, a baby can’t help itself so in the event he/she has a cold or runny nose, its your duty to ensure that you clean this area. A baby with a runny nose is disgusting. Nothing is sweeter than cuddling a clean baby 🙂
5. A baby should spend most time with its mother. The moment a woman brings forth a child into the world, her life is instantly transformed. This is when she truly learns how to love. Now some mothers have a tendency fi lef dem pickney all bout over di place fi roam street. If you knew you weren’t ready to settle down and dedicate most of your time to bonding with the child, why did you get pregnant? Unu tap lef unu pickney at people yaad.
Children are a gift from God and blessed is the woman who’s able to give birth. But motherhood is a job in which women should be adequately prepared. If not, kindly leave it to persons who are ready to handle it.
I am Laydee Sharmz saying ‘motherhood is not like a pair of shoes that you try on & kick off if you don’t like; once you become a mother, you’re a mother forever’
