Why Is Everyone Getting Married?

Let me first begin by saying that I have nothing against marriage or against those who’ve tied the knot in their quest to live happily ever after; and, neither is this post intended to discourage anyone from getting married. However, I think marriage has become some sort of fashion trend or statement. Nowadays everyone seems to be getting married; its almost as if marriage has an expiry date so everyone is grabbing it from the shelves before it gets outdated.
Indeed marriage is a beautiful thing; and, yes every girl dreams of dressing up like a princess and walking down the aisle one day. Marriage is God’s plan for two persons (man & woman that is) who really love each other. However, I’m left to wonder if all these persons getting married were really led by God and if they’re getting married for the right reasons. But who am I to judge? As for me, I think marriage is too sacred to be taken lightly, its not some sort of dollhouse to be played with.
What’s the point in being married when there’s no real level of affection for each other? Its indeed a sad reality that many married persons are living a hell of a lie; suffering torture, anguish and regret. To those of you getting married for sex, financial security or material possessions, your relationship is on track to hit the rocks someday. While others are tying the knot for these & others reasons, I’ll continue waiting in the wings until God decides its time for me to get married to the man I LOVE & desire to spend the rest of my life with. I don’t want to get married just for the sake of getting married; I believe there’s much more to marriage than being a Mrs. and sporting a diamond ring on the left hand.
Why do you want to get married? Stop and think about it. Marriage is not like milk, it won’t expire; stop rushing it, what’s meant to be will be.
As a single person, take the time to know yourself before planning to get married. Be patient, understand who you are as a person and who God wants you to be. By doing so, when the time comes, you can make room for another person in your life instead of trying to find your true self.
I am Laydee Sharmz leaving you with the words of Dr. Myles Munroe (author & life coach – now deceased) “marriage is too important a matter & too sacred an institution to enter into lightly, flippantly or without adequate preparation”.
